Hermione Granger: Lessons She's Taught Me

Hermione Granger is my favourite fictional character of all time as well as one of my biggest inspirations. I thought I would share the lessons she has taught me throughout my 39 times of reading and re-reading the Harry Potter series in hopes that you could learn a thing or two as well!

It's cool to be smart 
Hermione Granger is not afraid to show off her intelligence, and this is something that everyone should take in stride. Being one of the protagonists of the Harry Potter series, Hermione gets the main trio out of countless bouts of trouble using her brains and the knowledge that she's gained from reading more than the average person. How cool is that?! She's top of every class and works hard for it which is an example I strive to follow.

Stand up for what you believe in
Hermione is not afraid to voice her opinion on the matters that she deems important. In her fourth year at Hogwarts, Hermione starts an organisation by the name of the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare. She speaks out against the slavery of house elves and advocates for the cause she believes in despite the disdain of her classmates. She also shows a will to fight in the third book when she studies day and night to prevent Buckbeak the hippogriff from being executed. She knows her morals and she sticks by them.

Books are amazing 
Hermione reads non-stop and it results in her getting top of all her classes, respect from teachers and classmates and who doesn't want to be able to pull out random but relevant facts during a conversation? I know I do. Hermione's love of reading really inspires me to pick up a book more often and have a good reading session. Learning is amazing and there's nothing better than a good book.

Treasure your friends and family
In the seventh book, Hermione has to make the difficult decision to obliviate her parents in order to keep them safe. She demonstrates her love and compassion for them by going through with the most difficult sacrifice she's ever had to make. She is willing to cause herself pain to protect her family, and that is true bravery. Hermione also sticks by her friends no matter what. When Harry and Ron are fighting, she doesn't take sides, she supports both of them and tries to reunite the friendship. These are just a few examples of the kindness that Hermione has shown throughout the series. She is an amazing role model and this is a lesson that those young and old can both learn from.

Hermione Granger is an incredible role model for girls everywhere. She's inspired me greatly to become a better person and has taught me so much about who I want to be. I hope some of these lessons resonate with you guys and I will talk to you later!
