The "Fangirl" Tag
Most people know that I'm an unashamed fangirl of many things. All my life I've been obsessing over different book characters, TV shows and musicians, so I decided that this would be the perfect tag for me. I love to love things and when I get into something, it's go hard or go home. I did add a few of my own questions because there were somethings that weren't included that I fangirl over constantly, but other than that, let's get started!
1. First person I ever obsessed over?
I consulted with my Mum and she thinks it was Larry the animal trainer from the Clifford the Big Red Dog movie. I used to pretend to be him and I wouldn't let people call me by any other name but Larry. Other obsessions included Murray (from The Wiggles) and Max (from New MacDonald's Farm).
2. Current obsession?
My current obsession would definitely have to be David Bowie. I love everything he's ever done and I currently have three posters of him up around my room. I've also got Hunky Dory on vinyl with plans to buy more of his music asap.
3. Favourite band?
The Smiths! I adore Morrissey, I think he's a genius. His lyrics are so ludicrously self-pitying and that's entirely the point. I do listen to some of his solo music, but nothing will ever be better than what he created with Johnny Marr who's guitar riffs are beyond incredible. They're just a great band.
4. Favourite singer?
As mentioned before, I'm currently obsessed with David Bowie, so I'm going to go with him. He's unlike anything I've ever heard or seen before. His fashion, makeup and music influence is unparalleled by any other artist in my opinion and I think he's just marvelous.
5. Favourite YouTuber?
That would have to be PJ Liguori aka KickThePJ on YouTube. He's so immensely creative, it's hard to believe that he comes up with so many ideas. I draw so much inspiration from PJ and not only is he a song/film creator, he's absolutely hilarious! I'm always excited for a new video of his. I also rather like JacksFilms and H3H3Productions.
6. First concert?
My first concert was Sleeping With Sirens in 2015 when they came to New Zealand and played at the Powerstation. I was deep in my emo phase at this point in time so there are a multitude of photos on Facebook of me decked out in my MCR shirt, black choker and black skinny jeans. Not to mention my hair that's straightened to oblivion. Fond memories, fond memories.
7. Favourite movie?
I have so many!! I can't narrow it down to just one, so I'm going to have to go with top 4. And so, my top 4 favorite movies in no particular order are Sing Street, Donnie Darko, The Martian and The Theory of Everything.
8. Favourite actors/actresses?
Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne and Emma Watson take the cake for favourite actors and actresses without a doubt. I grew up watching Emma Watson play Hermione Granger and Pauline Fossil so I had to choose her. She's phenomenal in every role she plays, plus she's an amazing advocate for equal rights. I love Benedict Cumberbatch in everything he's in. From Sherlock to Stephen Strange, I think he's outstanding. Now Eddie Redmayne is a different story for me. He's my favourite actor of all time and for a good reason. He is just incredible.
9. First celebrity crush?
I think it might have been Christopher Robin from Winnie the Pooh. Does he count as a celebrity? My three year old self definitely thought so.
10. Ever got made fun of for what I look like?
Who hasn't? Unless your unnaturally perfect, I think everyone has been made fun of for their looks at some point. I was made fun of for my eyebrows which are a new level of bushy. I was edging into monobrow territory for a good 5 years before I started getting them done. But now, I'm pretty alright with my eyebrows. I still get them done, but I'm not as self-conscious about them as I used to be.
11. Favourite book?
Any of the books from the Harry Potter series. They're just so good! Apart from Harry Potter, I'd say Starters by Lissa Price. It's such a good book and I highly recommend it to everyone. If you'd have asked me this 3 years ago, I would've said Twilight in a heartbeat, so lets all be thankful.
12. Favourite TV show?
Twin Peaks! Twin Peaks! Twin Peaks! I love this show with a fire that cannot be put out. Everything about it from the soundtrack, to the story, to the characters is perfect in my humble opinion. I'm discounting season 3 however as I'm not the biggest fan. Still, I'm loyally watching every episode. I have to say, the BBC Sherlock comes a close second.
13. Favourite fictional character?
Now that's a hard question. Once again, I don't think I can choose just one so I'll give you my top five. Hermione Granger, Jim Moriarty, Donnie Darko, Dale Cooper and the Phantom of the Opera are my favourite fictional characters. I can connect with all of them in some way and I think that's what makes them so special.

14. Something I love about a fandom I'm in?
I'm going to go with the Sherlock fandom for these questions. I love that everyone in the Sherlock fandom is so inclusive and excited to share their passion for this show with others. Everyone has their own thing that they love about the show and I think it's great. The fanfiction and the art that comes out of the fandom is also incredible. I just really like most of the people in the fandom.
15. Something I hate about a fandom that I'm in?
One thing I'm not so big on within the Sherlock fandom is that there is an element of elitism that I think is prevalent in most fandoms. People who have watched the show longer believe themselves to be better than newcomers to the fandom which I don't think is right at all. Also those who watch other crime shows such as Elementary tend to be looked down on. This isn't in all parts of the fandom but certainly in some.
16. Would I ever take a bullet for the people I fangirl over?
I don't think I would. Maybe for PJ Liguori because he is so creative and brilliant and I think he has something more to contribute to this world. Maybe for Stephen Hawking because he hasn't found his one equation that explains everything yet. But I don't think I would for anyone else. Besides, most of the people I fangirl over are already deceased or close to it.
17. Do I ever hide the fact that I like someone out of fear of getting teased?
Sometimes. I quite like Dan and Phil, I've been watching them since about 2012, and recently it's become known as very "cringey" to watch or like their videos and so I generally keep under wraps about watching them. I used to be full blown obsessed with them in 2014-2015 and after that I've been a bit less intense with my Dan and Phil infatuation.
18. Have I ever met any of my idols?
No I haven't and it would be an honour to. The people who I'd love the most to meet are PJ Liguori, David Lynch, Stephen Hawking, Morrissey, Eddie Redmayne and Audra McDonald.
19. Do I have any merch from the people who I fangirl over?
I do indeed. I used to own a Dan and Phil shirt, calendar and bracelet and an MCR shirt. I now just have a Smiths shirt which has their album The Queen is Dead on it.
20. Favourite fangirl moment?
Probably when I saw twenty one pilots for the second time. I remember thinking that I wasn't that into them anymore because I'd bought the tickets a year in advance. I wasn't too excited for the concert but the minute they came onstage I burst into tears and lost my voice the next morning from screaming. Either that or when the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra played the music to Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone along with the movie and I couldn't stop smiling and cheering. It was truly magical.
21. Favourite musical?
Either The Phantom of the Opera or Hamilton. They're both perfect and I love every song. I adore musicals so so much. Just yesterday I watched both Chicago and Sweeney Todd!
22. Favourite ship?
This is too easy. Drarry is my absolute number one ship. Harry and Draco and perfect for each other and no one can convince me otherwise. Coming a close second and third however are Johnlock and Phan.
I hope you guys enjoyed this fangirl tag. Let me know your favourite things and I'll see you all later!
