The High School Tag

So I'm in high school (we call it college here) and I love answering questions, so I thought this would be the perfect thing to share with you guys! I tag anyone and everyone who wants to do this tag.

1. What grade are you in?
I'm in my second year of high school which is year 10 in New Zealand, but 9th grade in America and other parts of the world.

2. What is your favourite subject?
English 100% although Philosophy is a close second. I've always loved to read stories and create my own which is why English appeals to me so much, however Philosophy is great because I love to extend my mind and challenge myself during thinking processes (and I think a lot).

3. What cliques are there in your school?
There's not many. Most people just hang around with whoever they want, but there's definitely a "popular" group. Other than that, the groups in my school are pretty diverse which I'm very glad for.

4. Which clique or group are you in?
As I said, there isn't really any cliques in my school.

5. What subject do you hate the most and why?
MATHS!!! Numbers just do not make sense to me no matter how hard I try and sort them out in my head. My brain just rejects any form of maths which sucks because I end up having to study extra hard for a subject I don't enjoy.

6. Describe what you wear to school or your uniform
My school is one of the only high schools in New Zealand that doesn't wear a uniform which I'm not a fan of. I hate having to think of a new outfit to wear every day, it's such a hassle. Normally I wear a pair of jeans, a t shirt and a hoodie. Sometimes I wear a skirt, but just in summer. The shoes I wear are either Nike sneakers, black converse or Doc Martins. I try to stay comfortable but more professional than I'd dress outside of school, just because it puts me in a productive mindset.

7. Who are your best friends at school?
I have two best friends and they're the best but for their privacy reasons I won't disclose names or social media accounts.

8. How many subjects do you do and what are they?
I take 6 compulsory subjects and 3 option subjects. Every subject runs for the full year except philosophy and music which run for half a year each. My subjects are:
PE
Health
Social Studies
English
Science
Mathematics
French
Philosophy
Music

9. Are you/have you been the teacher's pet?
Haha! I'm definitely guilty of this... Last year I was a major teacher's pet in science. To be fair, my science teacher last year was the best teacher I've ever had. He was awesome.

10. Are you part of your school band, choir, musical society?
Yes! I play the cello in the school orchestra.

11. Do you participate in any sports at school?
I'm not the biggest fan of sports as I do so much dance outside of school, but I'm in the Human Rights Club.

12. What is your favourite school meal if any?
We don't really have specific school meals so to speak but my tuck shop makes a mean garlic bread.

13. Have you ever ditched school?
Not this year, but in previous years I have missed a few classes here and there.

14. What is the craziest thing that has ever happened at school?
One time we had a fire drill and everyone went and stood in the fire emergency meeting place, but some kid got hit in the head with a baseball bat and when he stood up in front of everyone, he had this enormous lump the size of a tennis ball. It looked so painful.

15. Have you ever been in detention and why?
I've been in detention twice. Once in year 8 and once in year 9. They were both for the same thing. Forgetting my PE gear.

16. What do you like most about your school?
I love that my school is really accommodating to student needs and that we have really cool subjects that you can take until university entrance. Everyone is really different and unique at my school and that's another thing I like about it.

17. What do you hate most about your school?
I really don't like that we don't have uniforms because it makes me feel a lot more unproductive and I'm not in the right mindset to work when I'm wearing casual clothing.

18. Who is your favourite teacher and why? My favourite teacher left the school last year, but he was my science teacher and he was the one who made me want to be a teacher. He was so passionate about his subject and he inspired every single one of the students. You could hear a pin drop when he talked. He was also hilarious and really quirky! He made science so much fun and really got me into physics.

19. Give your best advice on surviving high school
Stick with the people who make you feel good and keep you on track. It doesn't matter if they're not the popular kids or they're kinda nerdy. If you enjoy yourself with them, and you can hang with them at school, your school experience will be that much more fun than if you're with people who are off track and pull you down with them.

I hope you guys liked this little High School Tag and I'll talk to you soon!
